Today I finally refurbished the 20G Tall Aquarium into a Coldwater Tank for my Minnows.
Took a few steps:
- I drained all of the water out of the 20G and took out all the decor and plants. I did an intense clean of the gravel, taking full advantage of no fish in the tank.
- The 10G Tank that I’m about to retire I took out the 7 minnows that called it home and put them in a bucket.
- Emptied the 10G of decor and plants and vacuumed and washed the gravel. I also preserved the sponge media so the minnows would be comfortable in their new home. I drained all of the water from the tank and dumped the gravel into the 20G Aquarium. Using the gravel from the 10G, and combining the decor and plant life, I’ve built a pretty good-looking 20G Coldwater Tank!
- I acclimated the fish to their new tank and released them. They seem to be thriving in their new home.
