About

This originally started as part of the main blog site at ADWaquatics, but as I populated the data, I found that a simpler method might be easier to work with. A wiki makes it easier not only to publish the information but also to facilitate contributions from colleagues. A wiki system seems quicker and easier, without the bloat of a full-featured blog site. I am hoping that over time this website will be a comprehensive guide to fish-keeping for beginners and advanced users alike.

Contribute

It is an overwhelming process to populate the data on my own. If you have some articles to share with us, I would love to have the help, and publish your articles on this website. If this is something you want to do, there are a few guidelines for submitting your article.

  • You must be the owner of the article, and able to permit ADWaquatics to publish it. This includes any photos submitted as well.
  • Your article must be free of hate speech, or offensive language. This will be entirely at our discretion, and you must agree to publish your article on our platform.
  • You must agree to publish your article on our website free of charge. In turn, we will never charge money to a visitor to view your article. You will however be properly credited for your submission with a by-line.
  • You may withdraw your consent to publish your article at any time in writing (or by email), and allow a reasonable amount of time for us to remove it from our site and cached pages (our cached pages expire in approximately 7 days).

If you have any questions, please contact me using our contact form, or by email at info@adwaquatics.com.

Conservation

ADWaquatics is committed to sustainable best practices in the aquarium hobby. Our objective is to educate people about these practices and promote the health of aquatic life.

As part of this commitment, conserving our oceans and waterways is vital to the survival of aquatic life. We support initiatives that actively protect marine life, monitor the aquarium trade, and generally protect our waterways for aquatic species.

In Canada, there are approximately 8.5 million fish kept as pets which is the most out of any other pet (however, less households have fish than dogs and cats). In the US, the number exceeds 142 million fish kept in aquariums.

There are over 15,000 freshwater species of fish. With only 1% of the world's water habitats being freshwater, freshwater fish need protection and conservation in the wild.
